Fall at UP Rehab: 3 Simple Ways to Keep Moving This Fall

Fall is here! As routines get back to normal and the weather starts to cool down, it’s a great time to check in with your body and get back on top of any aches, pains, or injuries that may have been put off over the summer.

At UP Rehab, we’re also excited to welcome two new physiotherapists, Nick and Aleema, who are currently accepting new patients.

Meet Our New Physiotherapists

Welcome, Nick!

Nick completed his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Manitoba and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University.

With a background as a varsity track and field athlete and hockey player, Nick developed a strong interest in physiotherapy through his own experiences with injury and recovery.

His approach to treatment is individualized and evidence-based, incorporating manual therapy, exercise prescription, acupuncture, dry needling, and patient education. His goal is to help patients reduce pain, restore function, and get back to the activities that matter most to them.

Outside the clinic, Nick enjoys running, cycling, hiking, skiing, and hockey.

Meet Aleema!

Aleema completed her Master of Science in Physiotherapy and her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University.

She has experience treating a wide range of conditions, with a particular interest in sports injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Aleema takes a collaborative, goal-centred approach to care, helping patients work toward returning to the activities they enjoy.

Her one-on-one treatment plans may incorporate therapeutic exercise, patient education, self-management strategies, manual therapy, and other appropriate treatment techniques based on each patient's individual needs.

Both Nick and Aleema are currently accepting new patients.

3 Simple Ways to Keep Moving This Fall

Cooler temperatures and busier schedules don’t have to slow you down. Here are three simple ways to stay active and feeling your best this fall.

1. Keep Moving as the Weather Cools

As the temperature drops, it can be tempting to spend more time indoors and become less active. But regular movement is important for maintaining strength, mobility, and overall function.

Whether it’s walking, hiking, stretching, or another activity you enjoy, find ways to keep your body moving throughout the season.

2. Warm Up Before Activity

Heading to the gym? Playing a fall sport? Tackling some yard work?

Before jumping into your activity, spend a few minutes getting your body moving. A proper warm-up can help you transition into more demanding activities and prepare your body for movement.

Your warm-up doesn’t need to be complicated—start with some gentle movement and gradually work your way toward the activity you’re about to do.

3. Don’t Ignore That Nagging Injury

Fall can bring back activities and routines that you may not have done as much over the summer. If an ache or pain keeps coming back—or starts getting in the way of the things you enjoy—it may be time to have it assessed.

Instead of continuing to work around an injury, a physiotherapy assessment can help identify what may be contributing to your symptoms and determine an appropriate plan to get you moving again.

Ready to Get Back to Feeling Your Best?

Whether you’re dealing with a lingering injury, getting back into your favourite fall activities, or simply want to move more comfortably, the team at UP Rehab is here to help.

Nick and Aleema are currently accepting new physiotherapy patients, with appointments available.

Along with physiotherapy, UP Rehab also offers massage therapy and chiropractic care to support your health, movement, and recovery.
